MAITLAND CITY COUNCIL
Maitland City Council sought to perform a review of its Information Technology Division to benchmark the Division’s services against industry ‘best practice’.
This required an independent mentor with industry experience and appropriate qualifications in the areas of ITIL, Security Management and Project Management. Council appointed David Wheeler, Director of Mitec Pty Ltd, to perform the review and assist Council in identifying areas of its services that could be enhanced.
David’s professionalism and knowledge of the IT environment were quickly identified. His skills enabled the process to be performed in a collaborative atmosphere promoting a frank and honest discussion of Council’s IT functions.
The outcome of the review provided a comprehensive and professional report comparing Council’s IT functions and processes with the Capability Maturity Model (CMMi) and included such areas as IT strategy, IT support, service change management, service definition, security, change management and project management.
The Maitland City Council executive were more than happy with the result of the review and look forward to working with David in progressing the project further to provide a better result for Council.

Lifeline Australia provides crisis support, suicide prevention and mental health support services nation wide through a network of 42 centres and 11,000 paid staff and volunteers. Lifeline receives more than 1200 calls per day every day of the year from Australians in crisis.
We are seeking to develop and implement an IT Governance Framework to ensure appropriate direction and controls are in place for the current and future use of ICT, and ensure suitable alignment of ICT with business objectives. David Wheeler was employed to lead a security auditing exercise on behalf of the KAZ Group with our customer Department for Community Development (DCD, now Department of Child Protection).
David at all time acted professionally and efficiently, initially in establishing the remit with KAZ and then conducting inspections and interviewing technical and business personnel to gather the necessary information. David had set clear expectations on the remit and scope and delivered on time and on budget to the customer/KAZ.
